RSGB Contest Results 144MHz AFS 2016
v4.145 by G4CLA

144 MHz AFS 2016

Conditions were a bit more settled after Storm Desmond reduced participation in 2015. Forty nine clubs took part of which ten fielded a "B" team.  For sheer numbers of entrants Drowned Rats won hands down with a total of fourteen Rats on the air.

There was some enhancement mainly favouring those in the English Midlands and being largely East-West with continental beacons being reported 30dB above normal at times.  The enhancement only made it south to the adjudicator for the last ten minutes of the contest.  Typical.  ODX for the contest goes to GW3TKH/P for the QSO with DK1FG @ 1030km.

A huge jump in activity with a total 557 active stations compared to 397 in 2015.  Stations recorded in logs from 71 squares (including 25 UK squares).  There were 207 QSOs greater than 600kms (84 in 2015) of which 59 were greater than 700kms (23 in 2015) and 21 were greater than 800 kms (8 in 2015).  Total QSOs claimed for this contest this year is 11,410.

Very well done to Camb-Hams for a convincing win beating Bristol CG into second place.  Last years winners, Blacksheep CG come third just pipping Crawley ARC up from 11th last year.

In the individual sections congratulations go to:
